Published by Elsevier since 1993, this is the official English language journal of the Japanese Society of Child Neurology (JSCN). Now in its 25th volume, with 8 issues per year, the journal is a well recognised vehicle for pediatric neurologists to publish their research. Although the journal is affiliated to the JSCN, around 40% of papers are authored outside of Asia, and the readership is global, with around 75% of institutional subscriptions in North America and Europe.
JSCN INFORMATION
The Japanese Society of Child Neurology (JSCN) was founded in 1961, and several founding members remain active in the field of pediatric neurology in Japan. The JSCN is among the largest affiliated societies to the Japan Pediatric Association. With nine local chapters (Kyushu, Chugoku-Shikoku, Kinki, Tokai, Hokuriku, Koshinetsu, Kanto, Tohoku and Hokkaido), the JSCN is active all over Japan. The Society holds an annual meeting in May or June, with a mean number of participants of approximately 1200 attending more than 400 high-quality free papers, plenary lectures and invited lectures. The JSCN encompasses almost every aspect of child neurology within its remit: neurosurgery, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine, together with related basic sciences, such as molecular biology, neurophysiology, neuropathology, and neuropharmacology. Local chapters also meet once or twice a year. The JSCN has been sponsoring an annual teaching conference for young pediatric neurologists since 1971. Each year more than 100 young pediatric neurologists attend various lectures, case conferences and symposia to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in pediatric neurology and related fields.
